Hi! I’m Krysta.  Community herbalist, educator, garden steward, home chef, artist, daughter, oldest sibling, mama, partner, community cultivator, and magic weaver.

I’ve worked in community education for over 20 years – teaching in public middle schools,  running after school programs in Costa Rica, and hosting intergenerational community cooking workshops. In 2022, after a number of health challenges in our family (and with a lot of support from our community), I left the nonprofit education sector and more fully pursued my calling as a community herbalist. I’ve studied with  many incredible teachers including Maya Blow at Soul Flower Farm, Amanda Gorman and the crew at People’s Medicine School, and my dad, a retired physician and nature/garden enthusiast, who helped plant some of the first seeds of this calling.

I believe deeply in the healing power of slowing down, paying attention, and asking “what is really needed in this moment?”. I find when I practice this, the natural world, including my children and my own body, has so much wisdom and guidance to offer, invitations that go well beyond a quick fix and foster more health and liberation for all beings.

Freedom Sun is my invitation to join me in this journey.
